How I got this book: copy from author

A few weeks ago I put a call out to my Twitter followers to recommend me some good smut. Dee Carney quickly threw out her new self-pubbed anthology with other greats Cari Quinn, Chloe Cole, and Dee Tenorio, and I just knew I’d want to get my hands on this one! Dee sent it over to me, and I have to say… Wow *fans self*

Conquered by Cari Quinn - Quinn’s short was one of my favorites! I loved Emma and Shane and the complete misunderstanding between the two of them. I’ve always enjoyed stories about women who get the chance to come out of their shells and take a walk on the wild side, and Emma gets the chance to do just that! I thought the whole bit about Shane being undercover at a strip club (and a horrible stripper at that) was funny and cute.

It was a very smokin’ hot story, and the lack of inhibitions on Emma’s behalf really allowed her to cut lose and relax in her own body. It was very well done! I give Conquered an A.

Conned by Chloe Cole - Cole’s story was a little slow at first, but then picked up. I had a hard time relating to both Tuck and Cole, and didn’t really feel like I really ever had the chance to relate to either of them. I did love the whole science and human sexuality tie in, and wish I would have been able to take a class like that in college!

I liked that Tuck was really trying hard to reform from his previous bad boy persona, while at the same time Cricket was hoping that he had just a little more bad boy in him. The scenes were Tuck and Cricket were testing their theory about aphrodisiacs was hot and cute all at the same time. Very sexy on that front. I give Conned a B

Consumed by Dee Carney - I took me a little bit to get into Carney’s story, but once it got going, I was sucked in and it quickly became a favorite. I always seem to really enjoy stories that deal with food, chefs, kitchen stuff and this was no exception. Once I got a better feel for August and Saffron I really liked them both. I found that they were both fun characters, easy to related to and fall in love with. I wanted to cry with Saffron when August found out her secret and left her.

I thought the ending was super cute as well, and this was one of the stronger stories in the entire anthology. I give Consumed an A

Convicted by Dee Tenorio - I really liked the premise of this story, but for some reason the execution didn’t work as well for me as I had hoped. I’m always a sucker for a sexy military man; ex or active, and I did really liked Cade. But there was something about Katrina that just kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Finding out that she was really one of the good guys helped, but I just couldn’t really find myself liking her.

This was definitely the least erotic of the stories, but the sexual tension between the two was thick as molasses. If that kind of tension is something you enjoy reading about, this story is one you should get your hands on. I personally didn’t love it as much as the others. I give Convicted a B-
